Customers that are using Skip the Dishes & have restaurant(s) in Canada will need to ensure that the menu(s) intended for the Skip platform are in compliance with regional/province requirements.
- Sugared Drink Tax
- Bottle Deposit Fee
- Adding Alcohol Items
Sugared Drink Tax (British Columbia ONLY)
Items must be flagged as a Sugared Drink in order for Skip The Dishes to identify that the item requires a sugary drink tax. In British Columbia, all sugared drinks must be flagged in order to be taxed correctly.
To flag an item as a sugared drink, do the following:

To add a bottle deposit fee to an item, do the following:
- Select the item
- Toggle on the “Is Bottle Deposit” switch.
- Create a Bottle Deposit modifier group with a Bottle Deposit modifier. The price of the modifier should be the bottle deposit fee.
- Add the Bottle Deposit modifier to the item.
- Save changes.
Adding Alcohol Items
Ordermark and Skip REQUIRE alcohol items to be tagged appropriately. Alcohol items must be tagged or you could be removed from the platform. All steps below must be adhered to in order to sell alcohol with Ordermark and Skip the Dishes.
The following regions in Canada allow for alcohol to be offered on the menu:
- AB: 18+
- BC: 19+
- MB: 18+
- NB: 19+
- ON: 19+
- QC: 18+
Alcohol Menu Hours Requirements
Alcohol can only be offered on a menu between the hours of 9am-11pm. The menu will not publish if alcohol items are offered on the menu outside of these hours. Restaurants can offer non-alcohol items outside of these hours as long as they are placed in a separate category.
Alcohol Section Disclaimer Requirements
The following Section Disclaimer will be added to all menu sections that include alcohol items.
It is crucial to make sure that alcohol items are flagged appropriately, so that sections that contain alcohol are appropriately identified and the required Section Disclaimer is added to your menu.
“Age Verification to order alcohol: 18+ in MB, AB and QC, 19+ in all other provinces. If the order contains alcohol items, the recipient of this order is required to present a valid government ID to the courier at the time of delivery. This ID must match the name on the order. If the courier is unable to safely verify your ID, or if this condition or any other condition in the SkipTheDishes Terms of Service is not met the order will not be delivered.”
Age Verification & ABV Requirements
Alcohol items cannot be offered as an option/modifier group under any food items.
To add alcohol items to your menu, do the following:

5. Add the Item Disclaimer modifier group to the item.
6. Save changes.
